Mission:

The mission of the Riverside Children’s Theatre is to assist in the personal development of the individual child through the unique educational value of the performing arts experience, fostering the life long joy of live theatre.

After school enrichment programs in theatre arts, voice, dance and film.

Outreach programs to underserved youth through partnerships with schools and neighborhood centers.

Performing opportunities for youth under the direction of youth theatre professionals.

Performances by nationally known youth theatre companies.

In 2008-09,

A total of over 18,000 children and their families were served.

1,126 students participated in RCT classes; 43% received financial assistance.

The Gifford Youth Activity Center, Redlands Christian Migrant Association, and Indian River County Extended Day Program partnerships resulted in 445 students receiving free classes.

521 students participated (cast and crew) in the productions of 13 shows.

13,941 attended incredible shows and performances including \\"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,\\" \\"A Year with Frog and Toad,\\" and \\"Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There\\".

RCT just completed one if it’s most successful shows in \\"Aladdin\\" with more than 2,300 tickets sold, the third best selling show in theatre history!

Members of the \\"Aladdin\\" cast showcased at a Music Theatre International conference in Atlanta this January and received numerous awards.

To increase accessibility to after school programs by providing transportation from targeted schools.

To increase the number of school classrooms served by our school residency program.

To develop new community partnerships.

To develop new programing to reach new populations.

To offer educational opportunities in theatre, dance, voice and video production.

To offer performing opportunities for children and teens.

To offer children exposure to high quality professional theatre that is age appropriate.

To increase the participation in classes and performing opportunities to underserved populations.

Riverside Children\\'s Theatre is the educational and youth-oriented arm of Riverside Theatre, Inc. Begun in 1980 by a group of Vero Beach, Florida parents with the goal to provide cultural enrichment opportunities for their children, the program affiliated with the Riverside Theatre and grew under its auspices.

Major accomplishments over its 29 year history include:

An increase in total populations served to the current 18,000 per year.

The transition from a volunteer organization to the current staff of five full time youth theatre professionals.

A community funded 16,000 square foot educational facility, unique in the State of Florida that includes a 300 seat flexible seat theatre and a black box second stage.
