The Indian River Community Foundation

Building A Stronger Community Through Donor-Driven Philanthropy

The Indian River Community Foundation is a neutral nonprofit organization whose priority is donor-driven philanthropy. By partnering with the Community Foundation, donors receive the simplicity and tax advantages of a public charity combined with the personal recognition, involvement and flexibility of a private foundation plus significant tax benefits. Donors also gain access to the highest level of strategic thinking on solutions to meet community challenges.

The need for a Community Foundation was noted by a local estate planning attorney in the early 1990s. He worked with clients who had both estate planning issues and a desire to be philanthropic but required more flexibility than simply naming a charity as the ultimate beneficiary. After researching numerous solutions, it appeared that a local Community Foundation could provide a solution.

Value of IRCF

We coordinate all of our giving through our donor advised funds. These funds offer us flexibility in meeting our philanthropic goals and provide maximum tax benefits with no annual giving requirement.
